Novak Djokovic’s early exit from French Open has raised a lot of questions about the performance of the world’s No.1 tennis player. He hasn’t lived up to the expectations that his previous performances had set.

Although, it is too quick to judge if there is some serious problem or if he just had a few bad days against some of the most formidable players in tennis. Nevertheless, the concern about Djokovic’s depleting form is real and needs to be addressed.

Djokovic was looking good in the first four rounds of the French Open but he had a terrible day in the quarter-finals against Rafael Nadal who later went on to win the title.

It looked like Djokovic was out of energy and his tactics weren’t working. He was playing some amazing shots but the lack of consistency cost him the match and he is 2 grand slams behind Nadal in the race to the most grand slam won by a single player.

A former ATP player Jimmy Arias talked about his concern about Novak Djokovic’s depleting form he believes the reason behind this is that he is focusing too much on the aspect of ‘history’ involved in the game and not the game itself.

Jimmy in a recent interview said, “I think Novak [Djokovic] is cracking a little bit. It started with the US Open last year, I know he made the finals, but that whole tournament he was cracking. It shows how much he is thinking about history,”

“The only reason he was cracking was because he was thinking of the Calendar Grand Slam and if you remember that tournament, he was losing the first set every match.” He added.

“Then he had the strange start to the year with the Australian Open and everything that went on, and I just feel like maybe his days of locking down under extreme pressure will be difficult to find, I am not saying he won’t win Majors again, but it will be more difficult,” Jimmy added.
