Tunisian tennis sensation Ons Jabeur finds herself embroiled in upsetting match-fixing controversies. The allegations come after her sudden surrender to Ukrainian player Marta Kostyuk at the China Open. The match took a shocking turn of events as Jabeur lost the match despite holding a healthy lead during their clash on the tennis court.
Jabeur was seen dominating in the first set with an early break. She served for the match at 5-4 in the first set and also managed to reach two set points which Kostyuk saved. After turning the game to deuce, she was able to take advantage of it. The 20-year-old managed to even the scores. As a result, the set ended up being at 5-5. Both players swapped one game to force a tiebreak, which Kostyuk won after taking the advantage to 6-3. She struggled to grab the opportunity to win two set points but eventually managed to emerge victorious in the first set.
The match, however, took an unexpected turn in the second set. Jabeur, who had been in command of the game, appeared to have lost her rhythm and concentration. She began to make unusual errors. This allowed Kostyuk to launch a stunning comeback. Kostyuk eventually won with a score of 7-6 (5), 6-1.
This is also a huge upset for Kostyuk as she breaks her 6 times losing streak against the Wimbledon finalist. She will now face Russian player Liudmila Samsonova in the semi-final.

Fans furious at Ons Jabeur after her strange loss
After a crushing defeat at the hand of the 20-year-old Marta Kostyuk, Ons Jabeur had to face the wrath of the fans on X. They bashed her for ruining a perfectly good chance of winning while others suspected that she was involved in match-fixing.
The same accusation has been levied on World No. 11 Daria Kasatkina who lost to home favourite Wang Xinyu in straight sets at the China Open. Many fans suspected some foul play there as well. The fans have also argued that this should be seriously investigated and a punishment should be set for such acts. Few were also of the idea that the players should get a life ban on them as they don’t deserve to play tennis.
