British young sensation Emma Raducanu has dropped a hint about her potential visit to China after the Australian Open. The 20-year-old was speaking to CGTN Sports Scene where the Brit was asked whether she would consider visiting the country where her mother was born. Raducanu’s mother Renee Zhai is of Chinese descent and hails from Shenyang, the capital and largest city of China’s northeast Liaoning Province.
On the show, Raducanu opened up about her mother and other relatives living in Shenyang. She was delighted by the lifting of covid related restrictions in China and showed her excitement about the potential visit there after the Australian Open.
“Yes I mean it was amazing news when I saw that the quarantine restrictions were being lifted. So, I really hope to come, we’ll see after Melbourne on the way back maybe. But that would be amazing, I’d definitely go back to Shenyang and see my relatives, see my family,” the 2021 US Open champion said.
“I haven’t been back since before the pandemic because it was extremely difficult and I’ve missed it a lot. So, I am very much looking forward to that chance,” Raducanu added.

Emma Raducanu hits practice court after injury suffered in Auckland
The obstacles for the British star Emma Radcucanu after her glorious title at the 2021 US Open are refusing to die down. With the new season, the 20-year-old was expecting to make a new beginning after a forgettable 2022. But luck was not on the side of the Brit as she suffered another injury right before the Australian Open.
Playing at the 2023 ASB Classic in Auckland against Viktoria Kuzmova, Raducanu rolled her ankle which forced her to discontinue and withdraw in pain. Last year in October, she suffered a wrist injury that cut her season short and also impacted her performance.
“It was really unfortunate because I was feeling great about my season, I was feeling really good with the preparation I did physically. And I just had an accident on the court, I don’t know what I could’ve done to really prevent that,” Raducanu opened up about her injury.
Raducanu took to the court for a training session for the first time since the injury last week. Though she was cautious about her movements on the courts she is hopeful to make her second appearance in the Australian Open.
