Notably impressed with Andy’s game and recent performance at the ongoing US Open, Mats went on record saying that “Murray is so talented and he can hit so many different shots, but it’s dangerous to be too creative,” as the Briton stands to play his third round at Flushing for the second time in two years.

Mats Wilander while discussing Briton’s improved game, shows compassion for Murray’s coach and former world No. 1 Ivan Lendl’s contribution quoting “Murray’s second serve has improved a lot with Ivan Lendl. He has a lot more impact and I think Ivan helps him clear things up in his head and make it simple. Murray is so talented and he can hit so many different shots, but it’s dangerous to be too creative. We can already feel Lendl’s contribution, it’s incredible.”

Staying on the subject, Mats mentioned his recent interaction with Ivan when he incidentally met him a few days ago, “not only is it in great shape, but it feels lighter. I bumped into Lendl in Florida a few months ago on a golf course when I learned he was working with Murray again.”

Discussing his meeting with the Swede, Wilander went on to describe his talk with him as “he said to me: The only way to work with Andy is for him to move like before and not get tired. Murray can’t afford to get tired, he has to be the strongest on the court, and then he can use his tennis IQ to his advantage.”

Andy Murray now stands to face the Italian professional Matteo Berrettini for his third-round showdown at the glorious courts of the US Open.
