Iga Swiatek claimed her first title of the season on Saturday, as the world number one ranked player reigned supreme in Doha. The three-time Major champion completely outplayed Jessica Pegula in the finals in straight sets win in Doha. She spent less than three hours on the court over the course of the tournament, dropping just five games in three matches.

Iga Swiatek had a strong message for the fans after claiming the Doha Open title. The Polish woman remains the only player to wear the Ukrainian flag ribbon on her cap, as the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine took place nearly a year ago. She indirectly encouraged her fellow tennis players to show some solidarity in this scenario.

Iga Swiatek will now turn her attention to another Gulf country next week. The world number one will compete at the Dubai Tennis Championships, where she was knocked out in the second round last time around.

Iga Swiatek put on some utterly dominant performances at the Doha Open 2023. She has put the disappointment of the Australian Open well behind her, and is certainly focused on the upcoming WTA events. She defeated the likes of Danielle Collins, Veronika Kudermetova and Jessica Pegula on her way to the Doha Open title.

The two-time French Open champion did not have a great start to the season, as she lost to eventual runner-up, Elena Rybakina in the fourth round of the 2023 Australian Open. The 21-year-old revealed that she used her time off after the Australian Open to reset, and go back to the drawing board. She wants to spend more time working on her technique, rather than being pressurized by people’s expectations.
