The exciting semi-final between Holger Rune and Jannik Sinner at Monte-Carlo Masters ended with the young Danish tennis professional winning. This is the second time the current world No.9 reached the final of an ATP Masters 1000 tournament in his career.
On the other hand, Jannik Sinner again failed to win an important match in a significantly important tournament. He lost to Holger Rune for the second time in his career. This defeat is particularly ironic because he lost the match after winning the first set convincingly 6-1. However, the Dane was able to turn the tables on him and he lost the match 6-1, 5-7, 5-7.
But more than the match between the two, their post-match congratulatory handshake is in the news. Both the players just touched their palms and moved on without saying a word to each other. American broadcaster Tennis TV shared an excerpt of this video on social media.
“Sum up this week in four words… ‘Here for the handshake’,” the caption read.
Meanwhile, Holger Rune will take on Andrey Rublev in the final of the Monte-Carlo Masters 2023.

Social media reacts to this handshake between Jannik Sinner and Holger Rune
Jannik Sinner was visibly upset after the match. This is the second time he lost in a semi-final in an ATP Masters 1000 tournament. Also, this defeat came in just a week after losing out to Daniil Medvedev in the final of the Miami Open.
The Italian was in great control in the first set and was looking to cruise to his victory after winning the first set. He could have finished the match in the second set. However, in the second set, he allowed Holger Rune to crawl back, and the Dane took the match to the third set by winning the second set. The momentum shifted and in the end, Jannik Sinner turned up on the losing side.
However, social media users are unhappy with the attitude of Jannik Sinner that he showed after the end of the match. He did not courteously shook hands with Holger Rune. This has made him a target of fury from social media. Here are a few reactions that came in.
Jannik Sinner will next be participating in the Barcelona Open. Meanwhile, Holger Rune will straight fly to Munich, Germany after playing the Monte-Carlo Masters final to defend his title at the BMW Open.
