Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz recently had a practice session together at the Ferrero Training Academy in Villena, Spain. Both players had a pretty successful tour in 2023.
Alcaraz won six trophies, including the 2023 Wimbledon, while Sinner won four trophies and also reached the final of the 2023 ATP Finals. The two shared the court on Thursday, December 21, when the Italian paid a visit to Villena.
Sinner and Alcaraz are hands-down two of the most promising youngsters in tennis right now. While the Spaniard dominated most of the 2023 season and was the World No. 1 for several weeks, his form dropped significantly in the latter half of the year, since the US Open. It was at this point that Sinner picked up his form and played phenomenally well near the end of the season.
In the ATP Finals, the Italian beat Novak Djokovic for the first time in his career in the group stages. However, the Serb got the last laugh in the final by beating the Italian. However, Sinner beat the Serb again in the Davis Cup – twice.
Sinner helped Italy win their second Davis Cup recently. In the semi-finals, Serbia faced Italy. Sinner first defeated Djokovic in singles and then in doubles alongside Lorenzo Sonego.
The Italian’s team had planned many practice sessions for him during his stay at Alicante. One of them was the one against Carlos Alcaraz. Sinner posted a picture of his and Alcaraz’s team after the practice on Twitter with the caption,

Carlos Alcaraz thanks Jannik Sinner for training with him
Like Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz also posted about their practice session. He thanked the Italian for going to the Ferrero Tennis Academy to train with him.
Thanks @janniksin for coming to train at @EqueliteFerrero! Great morning and a great session! Warming up for 2024!.Sinner wrote on X
Alcaraz and Sinner have known each other for a long time, as they met each other in the lower circuits of ATP first. Thus, they share a good friendship. However, on the court, they share a strong rivalry. They have played a total of 7 matches against each other. Sinner won four of them, while Alcaraz won three. The last time they faced each other was back in the 2023 China Open’s semi-final, where Sinner emerged victorious in straight sets and went on to eventually win the tournament.
Both of them will start their 2024 campaign with the Australian Open, which begins on January 14. Alcaraz and Sinner are the second and fourth seeds in the tournament, respectively.
