World No. 4 Jannik Sinner has finally made his way to his maiden Grand Slam final. And he has done it in some style. Up against defending champion and World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, the 22-year-old won the match 6-1, 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3.

Sinner was always coming into this tie as the underdog owing to Djokovic’s historic Australian Open record. He, however, quashed all the doubters by winning the first set 6-1. It was the worst set loss for Nole in nearly a decade of playing at Melbourne Park

Despite missing out on the first match point in the tiebreaker, Sinner stuck to his strategy and executed it perfectly. He was smart enough to not share them following his win, as he has now beaten the Serb in each of their last three meetings. Defeating Djokovic to reach your first Majors final is a big feat.

But the post-match celebration of Sinner was somewhat ‘subdued’. Djokovic was gracious as he quickly jogged to the net to show his appreciation for the marvelous performance of the Italian. The press however questioned the fourth seed on the celebrations and he answered candidly.

I don't know. I feel these kind of emotions you cannot control. If someone celebrates in one way, you celebrate because this is the emotion what you are feeling now, no? Obviously it means so much to me to beat Novak here in Melbourne, but in the other way, I know that the tournament is not over. Sunday is a final.
said Sinner speaking in the press conference.
It's different emotions, because the final is always different. Doesn't really matter how big the tournament is, so it's -- you know, in my mind today I knew it was semifinal. It's not that you win the tournament like this (smiling). So I'm looking forward for Sunday, and let's see what's coming.
added the Italian.

Jannik Sinner keeps fans in the dark over his title-winning celebrations

Following his answer on the celebrations, Sinner was once again asked if he would let out everything after winning the Grand Slam title. The finalist however kept his silence, neither confirming nor denying, if he would rip his shirt off like Djokovic did back in 2012.

Having just raised his hands after winning the match, many would have wanted to see a better reaction from the Italian. But it was quite routine for the World No. 4 who has rarely shown any extravagant celebration on the court.

Let's see what will Sunday bring us.
said the World No. 4 with a grin.

Jannik will now take on the winner of the second semi-final that will be contested between Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev. Going into the third set, the German has won both sets and could well be the second finalist for Sunday’s finals unless the Russian makes a big comeback.
