Former Australian tennis star Jelena Dokic has been at the receiving end of online trolls yet again. The former world number four has hit out at the disgusting trolls, which were aimed at her mental health issues. Jelena Dokic announced her retirement from tennis in 2014, and has successfully turned into a commentator.
Jelena Dokic has been quite vocal about her mental health issues, which she described in her 2017 autobiography. She was also subject to emotional abuse at the hands of her father. The Australian was pretty disgusted by the online trolls, which hit a new low at the ongoing marquee event in Melbourne.
In 2022, Jelena Dokic revealed that she considered taking her own life at the start of the year. However, the retired tennis star stated that she was well on her road to recovery, and promised to be back stronger than ever. One of the online trolls targeted her mental health issues, as Jelena Dokic decided to take the matter to social media.
“Now that the Australian Open is starting will Jelena Dokic try to kill herself like she does every year,” the comment re-posted by the Australian read.

“What kind of person can write something like this,” Jelena Dokic angered by disgusting trolls

Jelena Dokic took to social media to vent out her frustration regarding the demeaning online comments. The Australian stated that the comments actually made her cry, given that it was indeed a very sensitive subject.
“This actually made me cry this morning when I woke up and read it. What kind of person can write something like this and then even worse laugh about it?,” Dokic said.
“I am fighting for all of those who feel like they don’t have a voice, who don’t feel like they are being heard,” she wrote on Friday on social media. For those who are struggling, for those who have struggled with suicidal thoughts, have lost loved ones and friends to suicide … I am fighting against ignorance, bad people, trolls, online abuse and disgusting human beings,” she further wrote.
Jelena Dokic broke onto the big stage as a teenager, and achieved her career best ranking of world number four. The Croatian born star ended her career with a win percentage of just over 60% which is quite an impressive stat.
