Latest WTA Rankings post the US Open 2022: Iga Swiatek extends her mammoth lead; Ons Jabeur, Jessica Pegula, and Coco Gauff achieve new career-high rankings

The last grand slam of the year- the US Open has finished successfully with World No.1 and French Open champion Iga Swiatek coming out as the victor. Swiatek defeated Tunisian fifth seed Ons Jabeur in the final in straight sets 6-2,7-6(5) to win the US Open. This was Swiatek’s third grand slam title and also her second major title of the year.

With this win, she has extended her lead at the top of the WTA Rankings and for the first time in her career, has over 10000 ranking points. She now has 10365 points to her name is has more than double the points of No.2. With her runner-up finish, Ons Jabeur moves up three places, and with 5090 points is the new World No.2.

Due to her second-round exit, Anett Kontaveit slips to No.3 in the rankings but Paula Badosa, who also lost in the second round remains at the No.4 spot. Due to their quarterfinal outings, Americans Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff reach new career-highs respectively- No.5 and No.8. And despite reaching the semifinals, Aryna Sabalenka slips a spot to No.7 in the WTA Rankings while Maria Sakkari slips 3 spots to No.6 in the rankings.

Multiple grand slam champion Simona Halep bowed out in the first round of the US Open and as a result dropped down to No.9 in the rankings. Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia enters the top 10 once again courtesy of a semifinal outing and is the new World No.10. Daria Kasatkina, Garbine Muguruza, Veronika Kudermetova, Belinda Bencic, and Jelena Ostapenko finish the top 15 of the WTA Rankings.

Other notable names that have significantly dropped in the rankings are Emma Raducanu(No.83), Leylah Fernandez(No.46), Naomi Osaka(No.48), and Bianca Andreescu(No.56).
