Linda Noskova is Team Serena Williams in the GOAT debate
The rising WTA star spoke about her idol Serena Williams and her goals in her fledgling career
Serena Williams and Linda Noskova
Rising WTA star Linda Noskova revealed that her idol is legendary American player Serena Williams. Noskova called the 23-time Grand Slam champion the best ever, in her opinion. She joins a list of people who have hailed the younger Williams sister as the best woman ever to play the sport of tennis. Her accolades and playing style have inspired people across the circuit.
Noskova said, “I look up to Serena Williams. She’s the best ever for me.” Williams adds the 18-year-old to a growing list of her backers for GOAT status. The American’s incredible 23 Grand Slam titles and playing style caught the eye of many young tennis players. Noskova, who only turned pro last year, calling Williams an inspiration is a testament to her influence.
Noskova has history with her idol. She was able to watch Serena and Venus Williams up close at the 2022 US Open. She faced off against the sisters with her doubles partner Lucie Hradecká at the Open’s first round. The Czech pair causes heartbreak for the Williams sisters as they defeated them in straight sets. Their campaign beyond that would end in the next round, unfortunately.
Noskova still got to play against her idol. Seeing the player up close will have reinforced her belief in Serena Williams’ genius. After the match, she called the win over the Williams sisters the biggest of her career. Serena isn’t just being given these superlatives without reason, however.

Serena Williams’ claim for GOAT
Williams retired from tennis after the 2022 US Open. She ended her long and successful career with 39 major titles. She finished with the second-most major titles by any woman to play the sport.
Serena Williams’ 27-year career saw her win every trophy worth winning in tennis. She won 7 Australian Open titles in her career. She also won the same number of Wimbledon titles. Williams has 3 French Open titles in her kitty. She also has six titles in her home country at the US Open. She spent 319 weeks at World Number 1.
Williams is also one of the few players to complete a career with a Golden Grand Slam to her name. She did it in both singles and doubles formats. She seemed to get better with age and claimed 10 Grand Slam titles after the age of 30. Her style and mentality inspired millions and reinvigorated people, young and old.
