Coco Gauff stunned the world last night when she won the US Open 2023 title by beating Aryna Sabalenka in a terrific battle in the final. With this, the youngster has now won her first Grand Slam and has also become the first American teenager since Serena Williams to win a Women’s Singles Grand Slam title. After this victory, tennis legend Martina Navratilova claimed that the 19-year-old deserved to be put in the same bracket as Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina

“We were talking about the ‘Big Three’ and now it’s the ‘Big Four’. They are Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina and Coco Gauff. She has no pressure on herself now because she won this title, so expectations were met. I think the confidence she will get from this is just beginning. She now has some time to improve,” argued the 18-time singles Grand Slam champion, as per puntodebreak.com.

She also said that in the 2023 US Open, neither Swiatek nor Sabalenka nor Rybakina were at their best but Gauff played the best tennis of her life in the final when she needed to get back from a set down in the second set against Aryna Sabalenka. Analyzing the match further, the retired tennis star said that Coco was extremely smart in the third set as she did not give Sabalenka anything to hit. This shows that the teenager is destined for greatness.

Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elena Rybakina are by far the topmost tennis players in the WTA right now. In fact, leaving the Wimbledon 2023 aside which was won by Marketa Vondrousova, the Big 4 have won all of the last 6 Grand Slam titles which go on to show how the entire division is currently dominated by these 4 players.

Coco won the 2023 US Open, Swiatek the 2023 French Open and the 2022 US Open, Sabalenka won the 2023 Australian Open and Elena Rybakina won the 2022 Wimbledon Open. The fact that the American now has wins over the other three players further exemplifies that she is ‘one of them’ now.
