American business giant and the world’s richest person, Elon Musk finally bought the social media platform ‘Twitter’ a few days ago after months of tussling with the senior authorities. Upon the takeover, he fired several top officials and instated many different rules which are directed towards ‘free speech’.

While Musk has his intentions in place regarding free speech, many are concerned that this idea of free speech will soon give a platform to hate mongers with results showing exactly the same. Tennis legend Martina Navratilova fears exactly that and hence isn’t much supportive of Musk’s $44 billion takeover.

Recently, she took to Twitter to slam Musk’s decision of charging the ‘blue tick’ accounts on a monthly basis. To regulate the reality of who deserves the blue ticks and who doesn’t, Musk’s Twitter will charge $8/month to the blue tick users. “Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bulls**t. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month,” Musk tweeted.

To give Musk a baffling reply, Navratilova said that she didn’t ask for the clue tick and told Musk to take it away she wants because her people know where to find her. “I didn’t ask for the blue check mark- it just showed up one day, so feel free to take it away. My peeps know it’s me,” Martina replied to Musk’s tweet.

With the new leadership, there is word around amongst the left wing that the extremists, who were banned from social media will now come back and propagate hate in the name of free speech. Navratilova fears exactly the same and when asked whether she’ll stay on Twitter, she said that for now, she will.

“For now,” she responded directing that she may leave the social media platform in the future if hate prevails.
