P.K. Subban who is a hockey analyst for EPSN recently made a distasteful comment about Lizzo which left an unpleasant impression in everyone’s mind. Melissa Viviane Jefferson who goes by her stage name “Lizzo” is an American celebrity. She is a singer, rapper, and actress. P.K. Subban took a dig at Lizzo’s weight. This happened after the match between Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs.

During a commentary exchange with SPN co-anchor John Buccigross, P.K. Subban used the words, “Maybe they need to pack a Lizzo-sized lunch,”.He used Lizzo’s plus-sized body as a means of measurement. Lizzo is known for being an activist when promoting body positivity and helping women accept their bodies. The comment made by P.K Subban was clearly not just a harmless joke as it actively promoted body-shaming.

Martina Navratilova who is a former tennis player and considered one of the greatest ever had a few things to say about this. She Tweeted,” Really PK? Really?!? “, clearly disapproving of what P.K Subban has done. She herself is a woman and P.K Subban’s disrespectful comment not only infuriated the fans but the whole sports community in general.

This incident is spreading rapidly on social media as fans are defending Lizzo. People have started commenting on Subban’s career and tweets have emerged suggesting Subban did this for attention. The internet community has come together in order to defend Lizzo who did not do anything wrong to receive this kind of hate. Body positivity is a rising concept in 2023 and it is always nice to see people coming together to uphold this.

Martina Navratilova visits Arthur Ashe’s statue in Richmond

Tennis great Martina Navratilova paid homage to Arthur Ashe during her visit to Richmond. Arthur Ashe is considered a legend of tennis and had a significant impact on the sport. Being the first Black player to join the United States Davis Cup team and having won three different Slams, he is considered a legend. This meeting of the greats of the sports is a delight to the fans.

Martina Navratilova posted a picture of herself next to Arthur Ashe’s statue on 6th May. The caption of the Tweet said, “In Richmond this weekend for our daughters graduation I paid homage to Arthur Ashe:), I wish I had known him better #hero,”.

This was a class act by Martina Navratilova who herself is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. This should serve as a standard of respect that tennis professionals should have for each other.
