Another aide of Former President Donald Trump has got into legal troubles. Jese Benton was the strategist for Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign in 2016. In a new investigation, it was found out that he conspired to illegally transfer contributions from a Russian national to the former President’s campaign.
Court records state that Benton and Roy Douglas, a different political consultant, concocted a plot to funnel donations to Trump’s campaign from a Russian citizen who wanted to meet and take pictures with the candidate. To attend a Trump campaign fundraiser, the Russian national allegedly sent Benton $100,000 as part of a deal.
According to court records, Benton disguised the Russian national identity from Trump and his team by creating a false invoice. Benton is accused of using the Russian national’s funds as a straw donor, giving the campaign $25,000 while keeping the other $75,000 for himself.
He has also been convicted of filing false reports with the Federal Election Commission. Hence, he is sentenced to 18 months in prison. American tennis legend Martina Navratilova who has always been critical of Donald Trump and the Republican party took a shot at both by naming Jese Benton in her latest social media post.

“Hmm- another traitor on the GOP side, go figure,” her caption read.
However, this is not the first time Mr. Benton has been convicted of fraud in the election campaign. He was convicted for a six months home confinement and probation in 2012 for concealing $73,000 in payments from Ron Paul’s presidential campaign. Donald Trump had pardoned him in 2020.

Martina Navratilova has mocked the Grand Old Party many times
The Former World No.1 has taken dig by the members of the US Republican Party many times on social media. She has criticized them for their actions, policies and statements given to the media.
Martina Navratilova had called out Former President Donald Trump for his policies and actions. However, she has also criticized his aides and supporters such as George Santos and Elise Stefanik previously. Both are members of US Congress.
A few weeks back, the nine-time Wimbledon champion has also taken note of the hypocrites statements given by Republican party Presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis for making statements both in favor and against of gun laws. In one of her social media posts, the two-time French Open champion also criticized Republican party ruled states for making abortion illegal within their respective jurisdictions.
