Men’s Singles Draw Preview

Playing his first match since his unsuccessful title defense at New York, Daniil Medvedev will headline the top half of the draw. Along with the other top 4 seeds, Medvedev gets a first-round bye. He will open his campaign against a qualifier or Joao Sousa in the Round of 16 and is drawn opposite of Adrian Mannarino who ops against Mikael Ymer. Mannarino is expected to meet Oscar Otte or a qualifier in the second round.

Teen sensation Holger Rune will face a Frenchman- Ugo Humbert or Benjamin Bonzi in the second round. He is expected to meet 7th seed Alexander Bublik in the quarterfinals. Bublik will face a qualifier in the opening round and will then face either Emil Ruusuvuori or Jiri Lehecka in the Round of 16.

Second seed and defending champion Hubert Hurkacz gets a tricky draw and will be up against either Richard Gasquet or Dominic Thiem in the Round of 16. 5th seed Nikoloz Basilashvili will face a qualifier in the opening round and will then face the winner of the match between Jaume Munar and Arthur Rinderknech.

3rd seed Lorenzo Musetti will lock horns against the winner of the match between Sebastian Korda and Hugo Gaston in the Round of 16. He is drawn opposite 6th seed Aslan Karatsev who gets a tough opponent in the opening round- Lorenzo Sonego. French wildcard Gilles Simon will face David Goffin in the first round and is expected to face Karatsev next.

In the first semifinal, Daniil Medvedev will face Alexander Bublik. Medvedev will go in as the favorite to win but Bublik has a very unorthodox game so he’ll be wary of that. Having said that, expect Medvedev to make it to the final.

Lorenzo Musetti will be up against Hubert Hurkacz in the second semifinal. Hurkacz, the defending champion will be the favorite and if he plays up to his potential and keeps his game clean on the given day, he shouldn’t be in trouble.
