World No. 10 Taylor Fritz‘s girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, continues to remain in the news owing to her growing career as an influencer. The American shot to fame ever since she started dating Fritz back in 2020. 

However, the moment of her rise in popularity in tennis circles came at the 2022 Indian Wells Masters. With Fritz defeating Rafael Nadal in the finals, Riddle was shooting all the moments of her stay in the tennis paradise. She later made it into a vlog, which went viral.

The reception towards the vlog, which gave fans an insight into the backstage activities and hotel rooms of the players, was overwhelming. Riddle started to put more of those on her social media handles to keep her fans getting sneak peeks of life at the Tour.

At the 2024 Australian Open, she even posted a big challenge for her boyfriend that didn’t go well for her. She had bet to eat a spoonful of the famous Australian spread ‘vegemite’ if Fritz could defeat Stefanos Tsitsipas in their fourth-round matchup.

Not only did Fritz win the tie by putting in a stellar performance, but he also ensured he recorded Riddle’s reaction to it. Disgusted by her bet, it wasn’t the only thing she regretted from her time in Melbourne Park this year. A particular fan pointed to her weird clapping method.

The TikTok star took to her Instagram stories to explain why she stopped cheering for her boyfriend at the Delray Beach event last week. The fan pointed out that Riddle’s clap was similar to Hollywood star Nicole Kidman’s’ seal clap’ from the 2017 Oscars, which has now become a famous meme. 

Riddle was surprisingly taken aback by being compared to the meme clap. As a result, she chose not to publicly clap for her boyfriend, who was defending his title at the ATP-250 event. 

Taylor Fritz makes a successful title defense in Delray Beach

Despite less public support from his significant other, Fritz did not break a sweat at the Delray Beach Open. Playing as the defending champ and the top seed, he managed to stamp his authority yet again by winning the title.

He had a bye in the first round and started his campaign against Nuno Borges, defeating him in straight sets. The American next played Rinky Hijikata in the quarterfinals and saw him off with an identical score of 6-3, 6-3. He was up against compatriot Marcos Giron in the semis. 

But despite a tight first set, Fritz saw him off in straight sets to advance into the finals. He clashed with his childhood buddy and the third-seeded Tommy Paul in the finals. He, however, maintained his 100% record of winning sets and matches at the event this year, as he won the title decider 6-3, 6-2. 

Despite a successful title defense, Fritz lost a ranking spot as Alex de Minaur jumped two places to become World No. 9. The American is now ranked 10th.
