Jannik Sinner had a decent 2022 season, where he managed to reach the quarterfinals of three majors. The Italian’s best Grand Slam run of the year came at Wimbledon, where he was knocked out by Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. Jannik Sinner defeated some reputed players on his way to the last eight, which includes the likes of Stan Wawrinka and current world number one, Carlos Alcaraz.
Speaking ahead of the 2023 season, Jannik Sinner targets improved performances on grass courts. The Italian was pretty satisfied about his deep run at Wimbledon 2022, which was brought to an end by the eventual champion, Novak Djokovic. The 21-year-old has shared a fierce rivalry with Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz this season, as the two youngsters have locked horns against each other on multiple occasions.
Jannik Sinner got the better of the world number one in the fourth round of Wimbledon 2022, which was one of his finest matches of the year. “In fact, I had never won a match on this surface and I had very little experience. Instead, I beat very strong players like Wawrinka, Isner and Alcaraz, before losing in five sets to Djokovic, who won the tournament for the seventh time,” said Sinner.

2022 US Open champion, Carlos Alcaraz had earlier stated that he targets Wimbledon glory in the upcoming season. Now, he will face some competition in the form of Jannik Sinner, who seeks to be a better grass court player. “The comparison with Agassi is a huge compliment. I don’t set myself limits, my goal is to increase the confidence of playing on the grass even more, the more I know about it and the more familiar we can become,” said Sinner.
Jannik Sinner had a rather disappointing end to the 2022 season, where he was defeated in the first round of the Paris Masters. The Italian was defeated by Marc-Andrea Huesler in straight sets to bring an end to an underwhelming season.
The 21-year-old has opted out of the inaugural edition of the United Cup, which commences from December 29. The Italian is all set to make his return to competitive tennis at the Adelaide International, which will take place in January 2023. Jannik Sinner will target a deep run at the Australian Open 2023, where he managed to reach the quarterfinals last time around.
