The Serbian also won the Italian Open, Tel Aviv Open, and Astana Open besides winning the 21st Grand Slam title of his career i.e., the Wimbledon. He managed to keep his place in the Top 10 of the ATP rankings. He managed to do all this in a given season without playing in the is an extraordinary feat. However, the story does not end here.

Eminent sports journalist Christopher Clarey highlighted that Novak Djokovic was able to do it without playing in this year’s Australian Open and the US Open due to his unvaccinated status. He won Wimbledon but the ATP decided to not add any points to any player, thus, no change in the ATP rankings. However, he is still way behind Carlos Alcaraz.

Novak Djokovic wins record-tying sixth ATP Finals title: defeating Casper Ruud 7-5 6-3. Tied with Federer for the all-time lead and will finish his strangest season at No. 5 in the rankings: 2000 points behind No. 1 Alcaraz. Missed two majors & got no points for winning Wimbledon,” his caption read.

He further clarified the situation in another social media post.

“While it is true that Djokovic finished 2000 points behind No. 1 Alcaraz and would have received 2000 points if Wimbledon had not been stripped of points, he would not have finished No. 1 on that alone. Alcaraz also got no points for reaching R4 at Wimbledon.” his caption read.

Novak Djokovic also missed out on four ATP 1000 tournaments which include the Cincinnati Masters, Indian Wells Open, Canadian Open, and Miami Open. He is truly an extraordinary human being. Whatever he does is legendary on the court and sometimes off it too.

Novak Djokovic took home with him the 2022 ATP Finals trophy and a whopping $4.7 million cheque from Turin as the undefeated winner of the tournament. He was drawn in the challenging Red Group with two past winners, i.e., the 2019 ATP Finals champion Stefanos Tsitsipas and the 2021 ATP Finals champion Daniil Medvedev. The Russian rookie Andrey Rublev was also in great form and had defeated Novak Djokovic in the final of the Serbian Open.

But the 6-time ATP Finals winner came on top of the group without losing a single match. He next faced the American rookie Taylor Fritz who looked like would become a threat to the Serb. But he managed him well and advanced into the Championship match. In the final, he had to face the 2022 French Open and the US Open finalist Casper Ruud. He passed this challenge too with ease.

A new feat has been added to the Serbian’s long list of achievements. He became, with Roger Federer, the player to have won the ATP Finals trophy a maximum number of times. And he has not retired yet. We will see him again in the future battling it out to be called ‘the best’.

Meanwhile, many reactions are coming in on the above post.
