Every tennis fan knows Novak Djokovic as a great tennis player. The Serb’s record boasts his achievements in a career spanning for almost two decades. He won 22 Grand Slam titles with the 22nd coming as late as this January. He won the Australian Open 2023 men’s singles title.

However, what many people are not aware of the charities and noble work, he is associated with all throughout his career. He has committed money through his foundation Novak Djokovic Foundation. The foundation works mainly on initiatives in the field of education for children in poor regions of Serbia.

Recently, he auctioned his shirt from his 2023 collection for €11,000 in Vienna, Austria. The money collected will be used to support children from the city of Kosovska Mitrovica located in Kosovo, a neighboring country of Serbia.

“The jersey was sold for 11,000e and all the money goes to Kosovska Mitrovica to increase the capacity of kindergarten for our children,” Jelena Djokovic, wife of Novak Djokovic wrote on social media after the auction. She attended the function in the capacity as the director of Novak Djokovic Foundation.

The Former Indian tennis player Somdev Devvarman praised Novak Djokovic following his awesome victory at the Australian Open 2023. But he also touched upon an important subject that most people often ignore. He complimented the seven-time Wimbledon champion for his philanthropic work that has helped many people through his Novak Djokovic Foundation.

“There’s the Novak Djokovic Foundation that you and your wife Jelena have been running for many years. Whenever there are floods in Serbia or somewhere in the world, Novak is there” he said.

The former tennis player also counted the relief efforts in which the three-time US Open champion has gotten himself into over the past few years. He exclaimed that the 22-time Grand Slam champion has always been there for the people in need.

“When there are fires in Australia, Novak is there. When Ukraine needs support and Sergiy Stakhovsky reaches out, Novak is there. Where there’s fundraisers, Novak is there,” he continued.

Although, Novak Djokovic may have won his 22nd Grand Slam title and is one of the greatest tennis players on the planet, he is still waiting to get exemption from the US authorities so that he can play in the upcoming tournaments on American soil. ATP 1000 tournaments Indian Wells Open and Miami Open are scheduled for next month.
