Serbian tennis sensation Novak Djokovic subtly joked about his wife’s ‘choice’ in a recent interview that he gave to the Tennis Channel. In the video, he can be seen jokingly questioning why his wife, Jelena, chose him.
Novak is evidently in a brilliant mood ever since beating Carlos Alcaraz in the Cincinnati Open final. His intense celebration after the victory showed how much this victory meant to him, and it is obvious as it marked his comeback after the Wimbledon 2023 final defeat.
At Cincinnati, Djokovic gave a lighthearted interview with the Tennis Channel, where he was shown some of his past photos, one of which was an old picture of him and his wife dating back to the years when they had just started dating.
When the Serb was shown a black-and-white picture of him and his girlfriend dating back to the time when they had just started going out, he said: “Who is this handsome lady with this guy? What is she doing with this guy? This was a photoshoot, and it was very enjoyable. It’s still the first few years of our relationship, though. So yes, I was trying to win her over, I guess. Charm her?”
Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena’s relationship
Novak Djokovic has been happily married to Jelena Djokovic for several years now. They tied the knot in 2014 (right after he won the Wimbledon title) and have two kids together – Stefan and Tara. They were already pregnant with Stefan when they tied the knot and gave birth to Tara in 2017.
Talking about her higher studies, Jelena went to Bocconi University in Milan to study luxury brand management. Earlier, Jelena worked at an oil company, which she left before moving to Monte Carlo with Novak. She is now a humanitarian who works for disadvantaged kids and is the National Director of the Novak Djokovic Foundation. However, she is always there beside her husband to cheer her up.
The two met in high school, and their relationship has indeed been very long. They finally got engaged in Monte Carlo in 2013 after being together for decades, and they are still going strong. Jelena is often seen traveling with Novak and supporting him during his matches. She was also spotted publicly rooting for her husband at Wimbledon where Nole lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the final.
