Novak Djokovic shared a picture on Instagram paying tribute to his role model and friend Kobe Bryant. The World No.1 has time and again declared his admiration for the legendary basketball player.

The top seed was recently seen at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome during the ongoing 2023 Ryder Cup. He was there to support and cheer for Team Europe’s victory against Team U.S.

The picture he shared depicted the Serb taking a shot on the golf course in his personalized Kobe Bryant-themed golf outfit. The golf bag carrying his golf clubs had Kobe’s iconic 24 jersey. It also symbolized Djokovic’s historical record of gathering 24 Grand Slam tournament titles.

He is the first male player to have such a monumental record. The 36-year-old won his 24th title at the recently conducted US Open Championship. He had paid his gratitude towards Kobe then as well.

Kobe Bryant lost his life on January 26, 2020. He was travelling with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna when the helicopter they were in crashed. He and his daughter with seven other passengers tragically lost their lives.

Djokovic was seen donning a T-shirt with the writings “Mamba Forever”. It also prominently displayed the number 24, which symbolised both of their achievements.

Novak Djokovic Turns Golfer for the Ryder Cup

The World No. 1 Novak Djokovic swapped his racket for a golf club when he participated in the All Star Match of the Ryder Cup.The Serb was seen playing alongside World number one golfer with disabilities Kipp Popert. He was part of the Colin Montgomerie‘s team that also featured Gareth Bale.

Many fans rallied to see the 36-year-old in action at the gold course. Seeing all of them Djokovic remarked,”Thanks to all the fans for coming and putting a bit of extra pressure on us on the first tee. It’s a unique experience.”

Djokovic and Britain’s Popert were up against Spain’s F1 driver Carlos Sainz and Italian G4D golfer Tommaso Perrino. The tennis legend was surprisingly great in the sport of golf as well. His team won 3-1 with Djokovic shooting the “shot of the day”.

He joked “This is sporting greatness,” as his ball stopped on the green.
