Novak Djokovic had a fabulous season in 2023. The Serb was at his absolute best in the Grand Slam events as well as the ATP Tours.

In this season Nole won the US Open, Australian Open, and the French Open at the Roland Garros besides also winning the ATP Tour Finals. The Serbian also reached the finals of Wimbledon, missing out on the trophy by a whisker as he lost to Carlos Alcaraz. This was also the only game of Nole that lost across the four major Grand Slam events.

There have always been debates as to what was the best tennis season in the long career of Nole. Some refer to it as the 2015 season, while some refer to the spectacular season he had in 2011. The 2023 season has to be among the top seasons when his form peaked. Referring to this in an interview via 60 Minutes with Jon Wertheim, Nole boasted of having several numbers of primes across his career.

In the interview, Nole said,

I could say, yes. I was fortunate to have several primes during my career. 2011 was the first best year where I had a run of over 40 matches won without any loss. The first loss came, I don't know, after 10 tournaments, midseason. That was the first time I won three Grand Slams in a year. And I had several years where I won three slams in a year: 2015, 2016. I had maybe 18 or 19 finals in a row. So those were the primes in my 20's. I've been experiencing some really good years, particularly '21 and '23.

What’s in the cards for Novak Djokovic in the 2024 season?

There is no doubt that the 2011’s and the 2015’s were Nole’s absolute best seasons. The record speaks for themselves.

However, in the twilight of his career, to perform the way Nole did was something really special. Thus, the 2023 season needs to have a special mention in his books.

This season he shattered various records, the most special among them has to be breaking Rafael Nadal‘s record of most Grand Slam titles. Moreover, Nole also surpassed Roger Federer to have the greatest number of ATP Tour Final titles.

Though Nole couldn’t finish the season as he would have liked by winning the Davis Cup with Serbia. Owing to Jannik Sinner and Italy’s performance, Nole led Serbia was eliminated from the semis of the Davis Cup. However, the 24-time Majors winner should be mighty proud of himself because of the individual performances he produced in the 2023 season.

With the 2024 season about to commence in January, Nole would have some high hopes for himself. With his old foe and career long-rival returning in the Australian Open, fans would hope that they get to see the clash of the two mighty titans. Moreover, with the Paris Olympics around the corner, Djokovic will have his eyes on the Olympic Gold, which is the only major missing from his illustrious trophy cabinet.
