Novak Djokovic will always be remembered for having the longevity and ability to break the dominance of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Djokovic won his maiden major at the 2008 Australian Open and has since won 20 majors more. Djokovic is now the second most successful Grand Slam men’s winner with 21 majors to his name.

His consistency and success saw him separate himself from the rest of the Tour and join Federer and Nadal in what has been dubbed the Big-3. With many historic and remarkable battles among the Big-3, many expected the players to be rivals off the court as well but the myth was recently debunked by Djokovic.

“It’s great that we have a chance to spend some quality time off the field together. We had team dinners, we talked about tennis, sports, life… We don’t usually have this on tour, we have our own teams, and families, so this is quite unique.

“We all want to win and do well at the same time because of Roger’s farewell and the opportunity to be with some of my biggest rivals in my career, it makes you want to share a good time off the pitch as well. The WhatsApp group keeps us together,” said Djokovic as per Kurir Sport.

The Big-3 last played together at the 2021 French Open. Federer withdrew before his 4th round match while Nadal and Djokovic clashed in the semi-finals. Djokovic won the epic semi-final in 4-sets before going on to win the Roland Garros title.

Nadal did not play the 2021 Wimbledon due to his knee injury. Federer crashed out in the quarter-finals, which became his last-ever singles match on the Tour. Djokovic would go on to win the Wimbledon and match Federer and Nadal‘s tally of 20 Grand Slams each.

The trio comes together for one last time at the 2022 Laver Cup where Federer will be retiring from professional tennis. Federer will team up with Nadal for the Doubles match as he won’t be playing in the singles due to his physical limitations post-surgery.
