Jannik Sinner has been off to a sensational start in his ongoing match against Novak Djokovic in the semi-final of the 2024 Australian Open. The Italian trashed the Serb in the first and second sets, which was something that nobody was expecting. 

Notably, much to fans’s speculation, the match was not going to be a walk in the park for Novak Djokovic in the semi-final, as Sinner has been in sensational form lately and had a 2-2 record against Nole in 2023.

However, dominating the World No. 1 in a Grand Slam semi-final and that too in the Australian Open seems unreal even as it is happening.

The Italian is currently doing many things that have never been done again in real time. He has become the first player to beat Novak Djokovic since Carlos Alcaraz in the 2023 Wimbledon final. Needless to say, that didn’t end well for the Serb. Moreover, this is the first time ever that Sinner has dropped the first set in an Australian Open semi-final. 

Jannik Sinner went on to continue his form from the first set, and he won the second set 6-2 as well, which is even more stunning. Novak Djokovic has done wonders at the Australian Open, and he practically rules the Grand Slam title in every statistic. 

However, the only thing he has not done here is win a match while being two sets down, and that is exactly what he would have to do to survive in this tournament. That seems like a far-fetched dream now, looking at the way Jannik Sinner is playing.

Moreover, the 10-time Australian Open winner does not seem to be in the mood that he usually is during matches, and there’s an apparent lack of motivation. However, many fans are still optimistic about a possible win for Djokovic in this match.
