“Proud of my resilience,” Emma Raducanu remains motivated despite adversities in 2022

For the young British sensation, Emma Raducanu, the 2022 Tour did not bring as much success as she would have expected. She did not have any major wins this year and at the end of the season, she fell to 75th rank in the WTA from a peak of 10th achieved earlier in July. Raducanu also sustained a wrist injury in October that shortened her season and forced her out of the court for some time.
Despite the enduring season and all the challenges, the 2021 US Open champion has not lost her motivation and is very proud of the way she has handled all the adversities that she went through this year. In an interview with the lifestyle magazine SheerLuxe, Raducanu shared the details about the year, her experiences, and her takeaways going into the next season.
“Professionally speaking, I’m very proud of my resilience this year. I’ve faced quite a bit of adversity and I’ve had to keep getting back up a lot. So much stuff is said about me that isn’t true, but I try not to let it affect me,“ she said.
“The past year has meant getting used to that side of things – the publicity and hearing all these things I never even knew about myself! The attention on the tour is so intense,” she further added while looking pretty optimistic about the next season.
The 20-year-old also talked about the feeling of pushing herself to the maximum in every situation. “I love working hard –it doesn’t matter what it is, be it school or tennis that feeling when you think you’re at your limit and then you push a little bit further. The gains you get are so, so worth it,“ she said.

There, she would be hoping to win the tournament making an excellent start to the 2023 season. The entry list for the tournament has been confirmed and Raducanu is expected to face the likes of Coco Gauff and American tennis player Sloane Stephens who have also confirmed their participation. The former world No. 10 is already thrilled about the tournament.
“I’m really looking forward to coming to New Zealand, “I’ve heard so many good things about the tournament. It is a great way to start off the Australian Open swing. I have heard that the tournament in New Zealand is great for players and fans,” she said earlier.
