Former World No. 1 Rafael Nadal and his wife Maria Francisca Perello welcomed a baby boy in October 2022, and named him Rafael Jr., after his father. Ever since then, the young child has become a favorite for fans and paparazzi alike, especially when spotted with his father.

While the couple initially tried to keep baby Rafa away from the media’s spotlight, they quickly realized it wasn’t easy. With every public sighting of Nadal making it to the news all across the globe, the family has slowly allowed their child to get attention and get them accustomed to all the media hubbub.

Rafa and his son were first spotted sightseeing in Sydney in 2023. The tennis legend enjoyed a day out with his three-month-old son after Spain got knocked out of the United Cup. The pictures of the father-son duo were greeted with an outpouring of positivity.

He has often thanked his wife for shouldering more responsibilities and allowing him to continue focusing on his tennis career. The 2023 season was however not good for the player as he couldn’t play again after his loss at the Australian Open. He made multiple comeback attempts but all failed.

As he looks to return, he is equally enjoying his time at home. Mery and Rafa Jr. are often spotted at the training sessions of the King of Clay. The boy is already seen as the heir to his father’s legacy as he has already picked up the tennis racket.

Rafael Nadal and his son continue to attract attention from fans

Among the Big-3, the Spaniard was the last to step into parenthood, wisely moving into his own timeline. Roger Federer and his wife Mirka welcomed their twin daughters Myla and Charlene in July 2009. The couple then welcomed twin boys Lenny and Leo in May 2014.

Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena welcomed their son Stefan in October 2014. The couple was then blessed with a girl Tara in September 2017. With Nadal also now a parent, fans are already dreaming of a rivalry among the babies of the Big-3.
