Rafael Nadal reveals his retirement plans pointing to a prolonged future despite his injury concerns

Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Grand Slam singles champion faced a shocking defeat in the fourth round of the US Open by Frances Tiafoe and missed another opportunity at winning his third Grand Slam title of the year. He took the lead for the maximum number of major singles titles in the Open era after winning two Grand Slam singles titles in the year.
Nadal opened up about his retirement plans and he stated that it is not something he isn’t thinking too much about his retirement and wants to continue playing for some more years. He even stated that one cannot predict the future and his retirement will happen when it has to happen and he will accept it wholeheartedly. He said “I am not thinking about my retirement. When it will be, it will be. Despite my body did not work lately, my mind says I still want to keep going.“
The Spaniard had suffered an abdominal injury that forced him to withdraw before the semi-finals match at Wimbledon and had even skipped some matches in the hard-court season prior to US Open. He had even revealed about taking anesthetic injections prior to the matches at Roland Garros due to his foot injury.

Rafael Nadal will be aiming for his first title at the Nitto ATP Finals after being qualified for the 17th time
Rafael Nadal is the first player to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals which is scheduled between 13-20 November in Turin. This will be the 17th time he has qualified for the tournament but is yet to win the trophy. He had a 22-match winning streak at the Grand Slam matches until his fourth-round exit at the US Open.
Nadal had flown down and became a part of the Laver Cup, especially for Roger Federer‘s farewell, and stood by his good friend during the final moments. The special camaraderie between the two was highly acknowledged and appreciated by everyone as the Spaniard got emotional and wept along with Federer as the Swiss maestro bid adieu to his career that lasted 24 long years.
He is missing from the action and had revealed being unsure about his schedule as he needed to take care of some personal issues that need his utmost attention.
