Rafael Nadal has congratulated the Spanish women’s football team on winning the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup through an Instagram story. This is the first time that the Spanish women’s team has lifted this trophy. They did so by beating a strong English side 1-0 in the final at Australia’s Accor stadium.
For context, Nadal has been a football fan for almost the entirety of his life, and he just had to congratulate the women on their astonishing achievement. “Let’s gooooooo!!! Congratulations. Champions of the World!!!!” he wrote on his Instagram story while also sharing a post from their official page. For those who are unaware, Nadal is a big fan of Spanish football giants Real Madrid.
When talking about the final match between Spain and England, the Spaniards dominated their opponents from the very beginning. They got an early lead through Olga Carmona in the 29th minute and held that till the very end. In fact, England were lucky not to concede a couple more goals. Spain attempted as many as 13 shots, of which 5 were on target, compared to England’s 3.
With that being said, there is no denying the fact that Spain has been slowly growing as the powerhouse of women’s football, thanks to the incredible rise of Barca Femini. It is fair to say that they have overtaken the USWNT (Team USA) as the best women’s football team out there.
Rafael Nadal is training hard to make a comeback for his farewell season in 2024
A video of Rafael Nadal training in the gym of Mallorca’s Rafael Nadal Academy has just recently emerged on the internet, and it has made fans excited about the legend’s much-awaited comeback to the court.
Nadal has been out with a hip injury since the Australian Open. He was earlier expected to return in 6–8 months, but his recovery is taking longer than expected. Fans were worried about whether his body would even permit him to make a comeback. This video has given them a sigh of relief.
The 22-time Grand Slam title winner missed the entirety of this season owing to the injury and has made his intention of wanting to retire in 2024 clear. However, he has also said that he wants to retire at the top of his game and will only make a comeback if he feels like he can compete for the title. That is what makes the situation complicated.
