Rafael Nadal shares a groundbreaking update about his wife’s health and his possible withdrawal from the US Open amidst pregnancy complications
Rafael Nadal and his wife
Things haven’t been ideal for Rafael Nadal since the last week. He was already struggling with form ahead of the US Open because of the injury he suffered during Wimbledon. He hadn’t won any match in the North-American swing in the build-up to the US Open and despite being the second seed, doubts loomed over his chances.
During the same time, he suffered a setback in his personal life when his wife, Maria Francisca Perello, who is 7 months pregnant developed some pregnancy complications and was immediately admitted to a local clinic. It was reported that things were getting serious but 2 days later, things were in control and the baby was out of danger.
But amidst this, Maria didn’t recover in time and had to be kept under the doctor’s constant observation. Although his wife wasn’t well completely, she was out of danger and was recovering well a result of which Rafa decided to stay back in New York. His sister accompanied Maria and took all the important decisions related to the pregnancy.
A couple of days ago, it was reported that the baby is gaining weight rapidly and hence the Nadal family will have to take a call for a premature delivery for which Rafa would have to withdraw from the ongoing US Open. Rafa, who hadn’t spoken on the subject gave a short statement to the media about his wife’s health. He revealed that amidst all reports in the media about his wife’s health, she’s fine and he won’t comment on it any further.
“As much as there have been all kinds of claims in the press in relation to my wife’s health, my wife is fine, I’ll just leave that there,” Nadal told reporters.
