The highly anticipated moment that many tennis fans were desperate for has finally arrived. Rafael Nadal finally returned to the court in Brisbane and couldn’t have done it any better.
As a wildcard entry, the Spaniard did not have to go through the qualification stages of the tournament and directly played his first match against Dominic Thiem.

The 37-year-old starts his 2024 season with a trademark dominant forehand that left the fans applauding him. He started the point with a serve and followed that with a forehand cross-court before hitting his trademark forehand shot that landed just on the baseline. The whole stadium cheered for the Spaniard, but there was also a plethora of reactions from the fans online.
“The King is back,” tweeted a fan after witnessing the ‘king of clay’ return to what he does best. After almost a year, the whole tennis community was unsure about the return of Nadal, but over the last few months, all their questions were answered by the Spaniard.
There is no better way for a player to give back to the fans than to play their best on the court, and Nadal did just that to announce his return with his trademark shot.
Rafael Nadal makes a phenomenal comeback at the Brisbane International
After a year of injuries, Rafael Nadal makes a comeback to tennis at the Brisbane International with absolute grace. He showed his class during the match and dominantly won his game against No. 5 seed Dominic Thiem. With a dominating first-set win, the Spaniard did not lose any more time to secure a win as he beat his opponent 7-5, 6-1.

He couldn’t have expected his comeback to be any better and now qualifies for the next round of the tournament. From not expecting anything from the comeback to starting with a straight-set win, the Spaniard picked up from where he left off and continues to dazzle the world with his skill and talent.
The Australian Open is not far behind, and with such wins under his belt, the Spaniard can be a huge threat to the title defense of Djokovic. It was at that tournament that Rafa played his last match, and now he will make a return for one more tournament, which is supposedly his last time.
