American teenager Coco Gauff is the player to watch in the upcoming Australian Open. The current World No. 7 has started the 2023 season with a bang by winning the ASB Classic tournament in Auckland. In the final, Gauff demolished her Spanish opponent, Rebeka Masarova, on Sunday.

Moving on to Melbourne, the 18-year-old will be looking to continue her excellent form to clinch the first Grand Slam title of her career. The title win at Auckland augments her chances Down Under. Her fans too believe that the American’s time to soak in title glory has arrived and what would be a better occasion than the star-studded season’s first Grand Slam?

The expected path for the five feet nine inches tall teenager is out. British star Emma Raducanu and 2021 US Open winner is the first big challenge in Gauff’s path. Other big names, Gauff will lock horns with are Paula Badosa and Iga Swiatek among others.

Expected Road to final for Coco Gauff

In the opening round of her campaign, Coco Gauff will face Czech 26-year-old Kateřina Siniaková who will be an easy challenge for the seventh seed. Next, Gauff is likely to meet Britsh sensation Emma Raducanu or German Tamara Korpatsch. In the Subsequent fixture, Gauff will likely fight against Qinwen Zheng who was named the 2022 WTA Newcomer of the Year.

Moving on in the Fourth Round, 11th seed Spanish Paula Badosa is primed to take on Gauff. The path from the quarterfinals will get tougher for Gauff whose best showing in Melbourne is her Fourth Round appearance in 2022. In the last-eight round, she is likely to meet World No. 1 Iga Swiatek or 13th seed American Danielle Collins. 

If Gauff successfully overcomes the Quarterfinals challenge American third seed Jessica Pegula or Greek sixth seed Maria Sakkari will be the ones to battle her in the Semifinals. The summit clash fight will be the hardest as expected with either fourth seed Caroline Garcia, World No. 2 Ons Jabeur, or the Adelaide International champion Aryna Sabalenka locking horns with Gauff for the Australian Open crown.
