Serena Williams beats Beyonce and Oprah to rank 2nd in the List of Most searched African-American women

Tennis icon Serena Williams is one of the most popular tennis players in the world. She along with her sister Venus Williams is also one of the few African-Americans who have been successful in the sport. Both the Williams sisters have been successful as singles and doubles players.
Hence, it is not amazing to know that Serena Williams feature in the Top 10 list of most searched African American women in 2022. However, what is amazing is that Serena Williams ranks higher on the list compared to Meghan Markle, Beyonce, Michelle Obama, and Oprah Winfrey. The 23-time Grand Slam champion is also the only athlete and tennis player on the list.
Serena Williams was searched at the rate of 1.65 million times per month this year. It was also noted that the 23-time Grand Slam champion was searched more during the US Open 2022. This was the time when she decided to retire from professional tennis.
She played her last match against Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round of the US Open. She was given a warm farewell after the match conclusion of the match. Dune actress Zendaya tops the list with 2.71 million searches per month this year.

Tennis players dominate the 2022 Most searched athletes list
Serena Williams was also featured in the list of most searched athletes for 2022. She is ranked No.3 on the list. This was the last active year for the American in professional tennis. A lot of hype surrounding her retirement must have helped her. Along with her three other tennis players have also made the cut.
Novak Djokovic is the most searched athlete in the world in 2022. His controversial exit from the Australian Open earlier in January brought immense focus and media spotlight on him. Also, the suspense over his inclusion in the main draw of the 2023 Australian Open kept him in the media glare. His triumphs at Wimbledon and ATP Finals tournament, this year, can also be counted as an important factor.
Novak Djokovic’s old rival Rafael Nadal is also on the list just behind him. Rafael Nadal won two Grand Slam singles titles this year, i.e., the Australian Open 2022 and the French Open 2022. His performance at Laver Cup also helped him to garner media glare.
Another Spaniard and 2022 US Open winner Carlos Alcaraz completes the list, taking the 10th spot. His performances all around the year and his becoming the youngest World No.1 in the history of the sport have contributed to propelling him up on the table.
