Former tennis player Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian thanked Ruby Bridges for her stand against racism. He also had a few comments on racism in the USA, which he addressed on Twitter(now called X). Ohanian has always called out racism in any way he could. He had expressed his gratitude to Bridges for her stand against the same when she was merely six years old.
Ruby Bridges is an American civil rights activist. Born in the middle of the Civil Rights Movement, she was the first African American student to attend the all-white William Frantz Elementary School, rewriting history. At just six years old, she was escorted by Federal Marshalls on her way to attend the school. Alexis Ohanian was extremely appreciative and grateful to Bridges for her courageously taking a stand against racism at just six years old.
Ohanian took to Twitter(now called X) to convey his gratitude.
6 year olds shouldn't have to be this brave, but we're fortunate she was
It was clearly visible that the Reddit co-founder was truly grateful to the American activists for her actions.

Alexis Ohanian has always taken a firm stand against racism. The Reddit co-founder had tweeted against a racist subreddit. This led to the platform changing its content policies and subsequently banning 2000 such subreddits. Following his stepping down from his seat on the Reddit board, he had asked for his seat to go to a Black board member. His most recent stand against racism was his support towards Ruby Bridges for her courage.
Serena Williams struggled with racism as well
Former World No.1 Serena Williams had faced racism as well. She had boycotted the Indian Wells masters from 2001 to 2014 after they were abused with racial slurs following her title-winning campaign at the event.
Williams was set to face sister Venus Williams in the semi-final of the WTA Masters event. However, just before the match began, Venus had withdrawn citing tendinitis in her knee. Nevertheless, the crowd had accused their father and coach Richard Williams of asking Venus Williams to withdraw so that her sister would have enough recovery before her finals. The crowd at the Indian Wells had thrown racial slurs at Richard Williams, which led to the sisters boycotting the event for nearly 13 years.
Serena Williams has always shown her pride in being a black athlete. She has previously said that she was proud of who she was and would not be as strong in a different situation. However, this does not disregard the racism she and her sister faced in the duration of their careers.
