Novak Djokovic started the season with controversy and criticism. He was deported from Australia a day before the start of the Australian Open due to his unvaccinated status against COVID-19. He was also slapped with a 3-year ban.
He was also not allowed to play in the 5 most important tournaments in the tennis calendar after his disrespectful exit from Down Under. One amongst them is the US Open and others are ATP 1000 tournaments, such as the Indian Wells Open, Miami Open, Canadian Open, and the Cincinnati Masters. All these tournaments were to be played on the North American continent. In total, he lost the chance to play for 10000 points this season, which could have consequences on his ATP rankings.
But nothing could break his strength. He still managed to win 4 ATP singles titles and Wimbledon this year. He is amongst the Top 5 in the ATP rankings.
