Former professional tennis player Martina Navratilova is known to speak her mind on various sensitive topics. From denouncing Kanye West‘s antisemitic comments, which led to a furor on social media, to her unfiltered comments on many hot topics, Martina has never been one to shy away from sharing her opinion on a public platform.

However, this time, the American player has shared her opinion on the hypocrisy of business giant Elon Musk, eliciting a plethora of support from viewers online. Calling out the hypocrisy of Elon Musk in her most recent tweet, the 18-time-Grand Slam champion shared the Rolling Stone magazine’s tweet with this caption.

 “Effing hypocrite,” her caption read.

For context, the entire controversy is related to the mid-term polls that are being held in the United States of America. Back in April 2022, business magnate Elon Musk said that he will remain politically neutral as he bought the social media giant Twitter. However, in the news article, he is allegedly trying to influence the outcome of the elections. To put it simply, the Tesla CEO is egging his viewers and fans to support the Republican party, which is completely in contrast to his neutral stance.

“Elon Musk in April: For Twitter to deserve public trust, it must be politically neutral. Elon Musk on Monday: I recommend voting for a Republican Congress,” The caption of Rolling Stone magazine read.

Notably, this isn’t the time Martina has taken a direct hit at SpaceX CEO. In the past, it was reported that since Musk’s takeover there has been an unprecedented rise in the usage of the highly controversial and disrespectful N-word along with other slurs. Reacting to the report Martina sarcastically said that she was not even surprised by the figures anymore.

Martina Navratilova is looking to repeat the success she achieved in mobilizing public support after Kanye West’s antisemitic comments. She was able to walk a fine line and forced big companies such as Adidas, JP Morgan, and Balenciaga, amongst others, to cut their ties with him.

The 8-time WTA Finals champion wants Twitter to remain an important source of information and a neutral platform where all people can share their opinions freely and wisely and she is willing to fight for it. Martina’s cheeky jibe at Elon Musk instantly went viral, as it sat at having over likes and retweets in no time. Judging by the comments, while the majority of commenters extended their support towards former World No. 1, a few even took a hilarious dig at the current state of Twitter.

Elon Musk and Martina Navratilova have been at loggerheads with each other on various issues. When Mr. Musk finally bought Twitter, speculations were ripe that he will ask Twitter to delete the 4-time Fed Cup (now Billie Jean King Cup) winner’s account and permanently ban her from the platform. This has not happened so far. With that being said, it will be pretty interesting to see how the Tesla boss will take these comments.
