Former World No. 3, Stan Wawrinka has not had an outstanding season yet. The Swiss player lost in the first round itself of the 2023 Australian Open, where he won in 2014. The player has also won the French and US Open. The 37-year-old is currently competing in the Rotterdam Open, where he will play against Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals.

Wawrinka is set to play against Italian showstopper, who is one of the younger players who has won seven ATP titles. At 37, Stan is playing impressively this week in Rotterdam. His sense of humor was also on point on the day before the match, when he quickly shut down a fan. The fan suggested the Swiss pull out of the match against Sinner.

Hence, the fan ‘advised’ the Swiss veteran to retire from the match and ‘save his energy’. The comment was certainly not well-received by Wawrinka.

The three-time Grand Slam champion did not take offense and instead, jokingly said he would at least get a free lesson’ out of the match against Sinner. Wawrinka, the 130th-ranked player in the world, has only competed in two tour-level points events so far in the 2023 season.
