However, a few months ago, in the ATP Finals Group Stage after Andrey Rublev stunned the current world No.5, where he used quite sharp and harsh words for the Russian during his post-match press conference. Stefanos Tsitsipas was clearly upset and made his feelings known to the world.
“It’s a shame. I feel like the better player. I felt like I could do more with the ball today. But, yeah, he prevailed with the few tools that he has. He was able to really take advantage of them and win today,” the Greek had said in 2022.
However, after Andrey Rublev prevailed over Holger Rune in the final of the Monte-Carlo Masters, the Greek tennis professional cannot stop complimenting the Russian for his talents and skills.
“He is someone who deserves to win titles. He is someone who has gone unnoticed for what he can do. He has great weapons as a player and I have made a mistake in the past saying stupid things after a loss I suffered against him recently, my mind was completely elsewhere,” Stefanos Tsitsipas said in a recent press conference on the sidelines of the Barcelona Open.
“I am convinced that he is a very strong opponent and that he can play against anyone. And the good thing about Rublev is that he can play on all surfaces, he is strong everywhere. It’s nice to see because he keeps improving and pushing us to improve too,” he continued.
Andrey Rublev is next going to participate in the Banja Luka Open.

Can Stefanos Tsitsipas win the Barcelona Open?
The Barcelona Open is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the ATP Tour. Hence, winning this title can help Stefanos Tsitsipas gain some confidence, which may have had a serious setback following his failure to defend his Monte-Carlo Masters title.
Also, he is searching for his first title this season and his title drought can end in Barcelona. However, the challenges before him are incredible and many. Carlos Alcaraz is the defending champion of this ATP 500 event and is making a return after missing out on playing in the Monte-Carlo Masters. He would like to make the most of this competition and earn some match practice before the Madrid Open.
Besides him, Jannik Sinner, Frances Tiafoe, Casper Ruud, Cameron Norrie, amongst others can possess great challenges before the Greek. Also, Stefanos Tsitsipas needs to take good care of his physical fitness.
