Twitter is a space where most tennis players come out and socialize and share their feelings with their followers and supporters and even share news about their tour and many more things. But recently there has been a trend of losing followers, especially for the most popular tennis players in the world starting from Serena Williams to Roger Federer, all have lost followers on Twitter. Shockingly this has happened more after Elon Musk’s acquisition of the American social media company on Monday.

While most of the players are yet to react on this issue, tennis legend Matina Navratilova came up with a reaction as wrote “I don’t blame them,” as a reply to a tweet suggesting the number of followers lost by some of the top tennis personalities all over the globe. It will be interesting to see how the others will react to this as it has happened right after Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter.

After a lot of talk with the Twitter management, Elon Musk wrapped up a $44 billion deal to buy out the American social media giant. After securing the deal, he tweeted how he wants Twitter to be better than ever and also be the most useful social media platform. But surprisingly a lot of tennis players have lost followers and the reason for this still remains unknown. A latest report on followers on Twitter, it shows the maximum fall in followers was of Serena Williams as she lost 3,694 followers followed by Martina Navratilova who also lost 1,656 followers. Then there were players such as Naomi Osaka and Andy Murray, both of them lost over a thousand followers. Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer also lost followers but not like the others. Sharapova lost 896 whereas Federer lost only 399 followers.

Till now looking at the report, Navratilova came up in support of the players who have lost some of their valuable supporters from the social media which they are most active. So it will be interesting to see how then players will react and after Navratilova’s one line tweet things will for sure heat up.

A few hours later, former World No.1 Andy Murray also came up with a quote tweet where he jokingly wrote that maybe their content is not as good hence they are losing followers on Twitter.

Murray is very active on Twitter, always updating his next tournament and keeps on replying to his fans aswell. he even comes up with tweets around other sports aswell. So the reason for him losing so many followers is pretty weird. Similarly for the others aswell. Andy Murray is currently gearing up to feature at the Madrid Open where he got a wildcard as he looks to get set on clay court ahead of the Roland Garros.
