Serena Williams, the 7-time Wimbledon champion, faced a shocking first-round exit to Harmony Tan in a closely three-set match even though she played brilliantly. Just after her exit, she enjoyed some quality time with her husband Alexis Ohanian and daughter Alexis Olympia and get herself recharged and ready for the big challenge ahead.

After her exit at Wimbledon, she expressed her desire to play in front of her home crowd at the 2022 US Open. She is set to play her first hard-court game after two years. Prior to the US Open, she announced her participation in the National Bank Open in Toronto starting on August 8 2022 which will be the first WTA 1000 event of the summer.

Serena Williams is a four-time finalist and a three-time champion at the National Bank Open. The last time she played here in Toronto was in the finals of the tournament in the year 2019. With his return to Toronto, she will be motivated to be at her top level of form and will have the required match practice before the US Open.
