Rafael Nadal‘s chance to grab his third Grand Slam title of the year and his 23rd Grand Slam title was shattered after his fourth-round loss at the 2022 US Open by Frances Tiafoe. He had a successful stint in the Grand Slam matches of this year but the American ended his quest by beating him in four sets giving the Spaniard less chance to take control over the game.

Nadal was on the road for a calendar Grand Slam but faced a setback when he suffered an abdominal injury during his quarter-final match at Wimbledon and further being forced to withdraw as per his doctor’s advice which kept him out for a few weeks for recovery and rehabilitation.
