The flamboyant and animated tennis star Nick Kyrgios is ever-present in the headlines. When he is on the court, the 27-year-old lits off the crowd with his antics, drama, and boorishness. Sometimes taking the form of major controversy like smashing a racquet or furiously augmenting with the Umpire. 

Because of all his gags and mischievousness, Krgios has earned the sobriquet ‘bad boy of tennis.’ He continues to share his opinions on social media or in interviews with his trademark style. Negative media reports about him did not help him either.

But Kyrgios, who is the biggest star of the Netflix show ‘Break Point’, does not consider him a ‘bad boy’. “Not at all, I don’t consider myself to be a bad boy in tennis,” the 2023 Wimbledon finalist told The JBK Show recently. “The media kind of painted that villainous type role very early in my career,” he added.

Kyrgios also mentioned how his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi is a positive force in her life when he was asked whether his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi liked a bad boy. “Yeah girls don’t mind a bad boy in general but you know, Costeen has taken on that role, you know. She’s definitely tamed me a lot and supported me,” World No. 20 responded.

Nick Kyrgios’ surgery is complete and he is eying for a comeback

The Aussie suffered an injury just before the United Cup mixed doubles event early this month. He was very much looking forward to representing his country in the inaugural event. Later, his dream of clinching his maiden Grand Slam in front of the home crowd was also dashed because of the unfortunate injury. 

Last week he shared an update about the arthroscopic procedure to clean up his lateral meniscus and remove the para labral cyst, ‘surgery complete’, he wrote. Now he is eying a comeback to Indian Wells after recovery. Subsequently, his manager gave has given a timeline for his return to the court. 

The surgery was a great success,” Kyrgios’ manager Daniel Horsfall affirmed. “We couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome of it. Now we will be pushing ahead for a speedy recovery and are aiming to see everyone at Indian Wells,” he added.
