Men’s tennis is going through a transition phase. The Big 3- Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic are not actively competing on the tour like it was some three years back. While Federer decided to call it a day in 2022, Nadal is struggling with his injuries.

Djokovic is also picking and choosing tournaments to play in. Meanwhile, a different group of players is on the rise.

Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Daniil Medvedev are the three players in modern-day tennis who are not just actively competing but also dominating the tour. For instance, one of the three players has won four of the six tournaments they have taken part this season.

Jannik Sinner has been the most successful one among the two as the Italian has won three tournaments out of the four he has played. Alcaraz has one while Medvedev has made it to two finals and two semifinals in the four tournaments he has played in the 2024 season.

This consistency from these three players has tempted renowned journalist Jon Wertheim to hail them as the next superstars. The American journalist has declared that these three players are far ahead of the rest of the pack.

Jon Wertheim hails the trio of Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Daniil Medvedev

While talking to Andy Roddick on Served with Andy Roddick, Jon Wertheim highlighted how in the absence of Novak Djokovic who won three of the four Grand Slam titles last year, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Daniil Medvedev have dominated the tour.

The American journalist came up with a unique terminology for the trio as Wertheim called them the “turducken” of tennis. He did not associate names but said that these three have distanced themselves from the rest of the pack.

I was going with the turducken metaphor. I don't know who's the chicken, turkey, or duck among Sinner, Alcaraz and Medvedev, choose your own, but these are three guys who have kind of distanced themselves from the pack here and ironically enough not one of them is ranked No. 1.

Notably, Sinner, Alcaraz, and Medvedev are the second, third, and fourth-ranked players in the world. Only Djokovic is ahead of them who sits atop the ATP rankings.
