Coco Gauff has been in some form over the past month, as she claimed the Citi Open and the Cincinnati Open title prior to the 2023 US Open. The sixth seed breezed past Karolina Muchova in the semifinals in straight sets, which was in contrast to the kind of challenge Aryna Sabalenka was up against. The Belarusian had to dig deep, as she came back from a set behind to win the match in three sets and book a place in the finals.
