Serbian tennis player Hamad Medjedovic, who has been supported by Novak Djokovic for quite a few years now, recently won the 2023 Next Gen ATP Finals by beating Arthur Fils in a thrilling final match. The 20-year-old has gathered praise from across the world after this sensational victory and former Serbian player Viktor Troicki has made a wonderful prediction for the youngster’s future.
Hamad Medjedovic’s connection with Djokovic goes all the way back to 2021. The Serbian legend saw great potential in Hamad, who was playing at the amateur level back then, and decided to support him financially and with his mentorship.
Hamad’s father, Eldin, revealed that the 24-time Grand Slam winner is really trying hard for him financially, mentally, and socially. The 24-time Major winner simply wanted to help someone who deserved it and in the future, when Hamad becomes successful, he wants him to help someone in turn as well.
After his success in the Next Gen ATP Finals, Viktor Troicki, a former Serbian tennis player and now Hamad’s coach, spoke very highly of the player. He is of the opinion that Hamad will make it to the Top 50 rankings in the world very soon after the exposure that he will now get after this victory.
Hamad has the game to quickly reach the top 100 and much more. I believe he will be in the top 50 next year, I hope even more, but he needs consistency in his results and not just to shine for a single week, but to maintain his level throughout the season. He can't do it right away, he needs experience, but the Masters Next Gen title will help him progress more quickly,.Viktor Troicki via Sportklub (H/T: We Love Tennis)
Hamad Medjedovic gets a whopping £405,000 after winning the 2023 Next Gen ATP Finals
Hamad won £405,000 ($514,000) in prize money after winning the 2023 Next Gen ATP Finals. He won all five of his matches in the tournament and his performance against Arthur Fils in the final was particularly phenomenal, where he showed his class against the French star.
Thanks to this prize money, which is more than the combined prize money that he had received throughout his career before (£328k), it will probably help him fund his own career now.
The Next Gen ATP Finals tournament does a wonderful job of scouting talents. It is an under-21 tournament that has earlier been won by players like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Hamad Medjedovic, who is currently 113th in World rankings, defeated Arthur Fils, who is 77 spots ahead of him in rankings 3-4(6) 4-1 4-2 3-4(9) 4-1 in the final.
