Everyone expected that the match-up between Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev will be a lip-smacking encounter. However, what the audience and tennis fans got from the fourth round fixture between the two of the Indian Wells Open 2023, was more fun and entertainment.

Both the players played some outstanding shots during the course of the match. But the Russian played better and emerged victorious. The scoreline read 6(5)-7(7), 7(7)-6(5), 7-5 in favor of Daniil Medvedev.

The Russian continued his complaints with the hard court surface that is being used in this Masters tournament throughout the match. He talked about this with the umpire. Soon, he began to inspect the court himself.

These incidents were captured on camera and Tennis TV which is official broadcaster of the Indian Wells Open 2023 shared an excerpts of this video on social media.

“I know what a hard court is – I’m a specialist,” Daniil Medvedev is heard suggesting this.

Medvedev keeping everyone entertained, even in the heat of the battle,” the caption read. The umpire was heard calling out the Russian’s name as he began to inspect the court himself. At last, he told Alexander Zverev “I couldn’t do better than that.” who shook his head amused.

Daniil Medvedev will play against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarter-finals round of this tournament.

The current World No.6 has never managed to advance beyond the fourth round of this prestigious Masters tournament his career. Last time when, he entered this tournament, he was knocked out by Gael Monfils in the third round of this competition. This loss had hurt him more since he also lost his World No.1 ranking after this defeat.

This year, however, Daniil Medvedev has already broken the jinx. He is into the quarter-final round of the tournament by beating one of the toughest opponents on hard court-Alexander Zverev. However, the challenges before him is going to only increase as he marches into the advanced stages of the tournament.

His competitors which include Carlos Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz and Felix Auger-Aliassime is still in the hunt to win their career’s maiden Indian Wells Open men’s singles title. Also, Cameron Norrie has emerged as one of the capable challengers in the tournament. Hence, Daniil Medvedev need to be vary of his competition but he has a great chance to make it to the final of the competition this time around. It is also possible that he can even win it.
