Jaqueline Cristian, a young professional tennis player from Romania made her debut in the Grand Slam tournaments at the Australian Open. She had received a wildcard entry in the first edition of the Transylvania Open in 2021 and had managed to reach the quarter-finals but lost to Simona Halep.

Cristian made headlines when she entered the court for her first-round match at the 2022 Transylvania Open against Wang Xiyu. She wore a blue and white outfit over which she wore a black cape with a high collar and red brims recreating a look similar to one of the famous Transylvanian characters, Dracula who is widely recognized for its fierceness.

She had donned a similar outfit last year at the same tournament in Romania but the only change that could be spotted was the color of her outfit which was red color one during last year. Her outfit was in tune with the mascot of the tournament represented by Count Dracula.

Jaqueline Cristian

Jaqueline Cristian has won ten doubles and ten singles titles in tournaments of the ITF circuit. Her best performance of the season has been at the ITF France 20A tournament where she won the title defeating Magali Kempen in straight sets. She had faced a first-round elimination at the 2022 US Open where she was beaten by Anett Kontaveit in straight sets.

Although she lost the first-round match in straight sets against Wang, Cristian’s outfit has been highly appreciated and acknowledged on social media for following the theme of the tournament and keeping her outfit in tune with the mascot. Some even expressed their thoughts that it should inspire other players to don outfits that could be according to the theme of the tournament while some even were not happy with her choice.

People on social media even advised others to follow the tradition since Cristian had worn something on similar lines at last year’s tournament which had been quite the talk of the time even during that time.
