Matthew Perry, Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur
Iga Swiatek is up against the Tunisian Ons Jabeur in the finals of the 2022 US Open. Swiatek defeated Aryna Sabalenka, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 to secure her place in the finals of the 2022 US Open to reach her second major final of the season and her first at the Flushing Meadows in New York looking for her first hardcourt major title.
Swiatek, the French Open champion had defeated the American Jessica Pegula in straight sets in the quarter-finals. She defeated Jasmine Paolini, former US Open champion Sloane Stephens, Lauren Davis, and Jule Niemeier in earlier stages of the competition on her way to the finals.
Ons Jabeur made her second major final appearance of the season after defeating Caroline Garcia in the semi-finals and went on to defeat her 6-1, 6-3 to enter her second major finals of the season and the first final appearance. The Tunisian defeated Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia in straight sets in the quarter-finals. She defeated Elizabeth Mandlik, Shelby Rogers, and Veronika Kudermetova in the previous rounds.
She had also reached the finals of the 2022 Wimbledon Championship but was defeated by the winner and new champion Elena Rybakina even after putting a great effort in his first singles Grand Slam appearance.

The Arthur Ashe stadium is fully packed with support for both the players but mostly for Jabeur who is the first from her country to be in the finals. To watch the finals between Swiatek and Jabeur, Matthew Perry, the famous character ‘Chandler Bing‘ from the American sitcom FRIENDS was there in the stands to support both the women players and see the new champion of the US Open.
Apart from Perry, Kawhi Leonard, the famous basketball player of the Los Angeles Clippers, and famous American singer, writer, and actor Joe Jonas who is a crucial part of the renowned group called the ‘Jonas Brothers‘ were in attendance at the Arthur Ashe stadium to watch the finals.
The 2022 US Open finals have World No. 1 Iga Swiatek and World No. 5 Ons Jabeur fighting for the 5th time in their careers. Both are looking for their first-ever hardcourt Grand Slam title as Swiatek is already a two-time French Open champion but Ons is yet to win one. Swiatek took the first set in just 30 minutes of play and gave the Tunisian the least amount of time for a comeback as she won the opening set 6-2.
