WATCH: ‘Meme Icon?’ Twitter in splits as Iga Swiatek sits back chilling on her chair and forgets to get back on the court

Iga Swiatek

Iga Swiatek is one of the most loved and adored players on the tour due to both her on and off-court behavior. She has almost no haters and almost everyone loves her company. Her camaraderie with her peers is next to none which makes her even more lovable.

During her second-round match at the French Open, a very strange, yet funny thing happened to her. After closing out the first set in less than half-hour, Iga seemed pretty chilled during the second set. She was easing her way through the points and won the opening game comfortably. During the changeover, Iga seemed lost in her own world and sat for a little too long.

She was supposed to be receiving Alsion Riske’s serve but all she did was sit on the chair and sip her drink. Riske was all ready to serve but Swiatek realized that only when the chair umpire called her multiple times. A startled Swiatek almost spilled her drink as she left her drink and ran to receive Riske’s serve. It was all so funny that even the chair umpire and commentators couldn’t hold their laughter. It was genuinely a very honest, funny, and cute mistake from Swiatek’s end.
