WATCH: Novak Djokovic treats young fan with a special autographed gift following his win over Daniil Medvedev
Novak Djokovic and his fans are having the time of their life in Australia this year, complete opposite to what happened last year.
Novak Djokovic
Serbian World No.5 Novak Djokovic has been looking unstoppable on the court with some flawless tennis. At the same time, he is winning enough hearts off the court as well. The Serbian superstar is currently playing in the ATP-250 Adelaide International. A video is being surfaced on social media platforms where Djokovic is seen giving one of his sneakers with an autograph on it to a young fan.
The Serbian is having a great time in Australia after the disastrous deportation saga there the previous year. It was only days before a video surfaced where he filled the heart of a fan named Julie by calling her name during the post-match interview of the quarter-finals. Now, he has given the heart of a young fan by giving this special gift. He was going back after the semi-final victory against Daniil Medvedev.
The antics of the Serbian are welcomed absolutely well by the tennis community. Some quoted “closest sports person to his fans” and “The generous idol“. There were numerous retweets and quote tweets on the video that surfaced on Twitter already.
Novak Djokovic is on a mission and is looking unstoppable
As Novak Djokovic downplayed fears about the hamstring injury he picked up during his semi-final clash against Daniil Medvedev at the ongoing 2023 Adelaide International on Saturday, the mission to reach the 22nd Grand Slam title looks very well on. Djokovic had tweaked his leg during the first set and took a medical timeout but he returned to the court and proceeded to win the match 6-3, 6-4 to progress to the final of the ATP 250 tournament.
The 21-time Grand Slam winner has an incredible 101-10 record in Australia, a 91.8% win percentage. His fans are already looking well in the mood to celebrate the La Decima (10th title) in the Australian Open. After the deportation saga in 2022, a 10th title in the Australian Open will guarantee him some more prizes. A record-equaling 22nd Grand Slam title and World Number 1 ranking.
Almost all the odds are favored to the Serbian now. Carlos Alcaraz’s withdrawal and the weak form of the defending Champion Rafael Nadal will make the way easier for him. Adding to this, a 5th consecutive win over Daniil Medvedev today means that the Serbian has no bigger threats from the next-gen as well on paper. It seems like the Serbian will regain his supremacy in the Rod Laver Arena. Before that, he has a final to play against Sebastian Korda in the Adelaide Internationals on January 7th.
